Last year Owen and I attended the ASTD Conference in Chicago. Our reasons for going were to deepen our professional knowledge and to start to explore the US market. As an event it felt very different to the UK conferences I have attended, not just in terms of size, but in the breadth and scope of  the opportunities to meet and debate with leading thinkers on ideas and trends in L&D.

Being part of a UK delegation really helped and Owen and I are going back with another colleague, James to continue our professional development and to learn more about the US market.

Last week I also had the opportunity to catch up with Tony Bingham, CEO ASTD when I interviewed him about his book “The New Social Learning” which is a blog for another day and I took the opportunity to ask him about the conference and ASTD’s new focus on the UK through Reed Learning.
