GoodPractice has been established in Australia since December 2015.

Led by our General Manager Giorgio Migliaccio, our team Down Under have been purposefully spreading the GoodPractice word and building up a first class client list. Over the last 12 months we’ve been delighted to welcome some exceptional new clients on board including Bupa Australia, Grant Thornton, the Australian Government and Virgin Australia.

It’s been fascinating to hear from our Australian clients about the L&D challenges and opportunities they are facing. However, it’s one thing to hear about these issues second hand, and quite another to meet up in person and discuss the common issues that we, as a profession, are facing.

With this in mind, I’ll be making a fact finding trip to our Australian office later this month. I’ll be in Melbourne from Monday 26th June until Tuesday 11th July, with a visit to Brisbane and Sydney planned for the week of 3rd July. I’ll be spending some time getting to know the market, meeting with some current and prospective clients, as well as connecting with some long standing friends I’ve got to know over the years via social media.

I’m also keen to meet with other L&D leaders who are passionate about making a difference and who are interested in how our profession is changing. If this sounds like you and you’re based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane please do get in touch! Feel free to drop me a note and we can meet for a coffee (or beer!). Similarly, if you have colleagues and friends working in Australian L&D, please share this message and invite them to get in touch.

A bit about Owen

Working in learning and development for almost 20 years, Owen has an astute appreciation of the rapidly changing L&D tech landscape. He is particularly interested in the evolution of learning technologies and how L&D can leverage the benefits that technology has to offer without falling down the rabbit hole of fads and short-lived trends.

As MD of GoodPractice, Owen and the team use data, user-centric design principles and proactive, agile experimentation to develop and hone online solutions to real world L&D problems and challenges. He works in partnership with GoodPractice’s clients, helping L&D teams in all different kinds of organisations solve their most critical challenges.

He also oversees GoodPractice’s well established and well regarded L&D research programme. Together with the Australian Institute for Learning Professionals, GoodPractice have recently launched an exciting new research project on learning technologies in Australia. When it comes to research, Owen advocates an evidence-based approach focusing on the preferences and habits of managers - a critical group of people for all L&D functions to consider and plan for.
